Which brush to use and when to use it? I get asked this a lot by people buying from us, and not just people painting for the first time either. Quite often I find decorators have personal preferences that don't always confirm what we are told by manufacturers.
At this point in time there are no natural bristle brushes to be found at Lee's. There are two main reasons for this. To begin with the price point for natural bristle (Sable, Hog, Badger etc.) can be a lot higher than for synthetic or polyester brushes.
People using Natural Bristle for the first time sometimes find them difficult to use and that the bristle loss effects the finish.
We also believe that with the right care all of our brushes can be used with all of the paints you are using, effectively.
Our synthetic bristle brushes are made from nylon, polyester or a hybrid mix and designed to be used with:
Water Based latex paints
Water Based Primers
Water Based wood finishes
Nylon brushes will give you a smooth finish and hold paint well.
Polyester hold their shape very well which is great when you are doing things like cutting in.
Nylon/Polyester mix are great for woodwork and work well with satin, eggshell and gloss finishes.
Our DOBERMAN brushes are made from 100% Solid Round Tapered Polyester Filament and work great when finishing with oil based gloss, eggshell and satin finishes.
Whichever brush you choose be sure to clean them every time you use them if possible to maintain shape and quality.
